Earth Day

Published:

Earth Day is a day to raise awareness about looking after our environment and why it's so important to do so.

In order to keep our planet clean and safe for years to come we need to significantly reduce the amount of pollution we produce and fight against climate change.  So every year on 22nd April billions of people all over the world take part in different acitvites to make the world a healthier place.

Here are some fun ways to get involved with Earth Day:

  • Reduce, reuse, recycle! - make recycling fun by creating separate coloured bins for cans, bottles, paper and general waste.  When your children want to throw something away ask them to have a little guess at which bin they think it should go in.
  • Go for a picnic - if the weather's nice why not go for a wildlife spotting picnic? Create your own wildlife watch list or simply see how many different species you spot!
  • Litter picking - make this a fun task by turning it into a competition, if there's a few of you split into teams and see who can collect the most rubbish.
  • Crafts - turn your rubbish into something new! You could make birdfeeders out of toilet tubes dipped in peanut butter and seeds.
