Pumpkin lovers and spook-seekers! 🎃 As the evenings close in and the leaves turn golden, Hertfordshire (and its surroundings) becomes a really fun playground for Halloween and autumn-themed adventures. If you’re looking for places to pick pumpkins, enjoy creepy trails, and soak up that cosy, slightly spooky atmosphere in October and November 2025, here’s a round-up of what’s on in and around Welwyn
Hertfordshire Zoo – Pumpkin Valley: from Sat 26 October to 3 November, the zoo hosts an autumn wonderland with pumpkins included in their day ticket.
Pop Up Farm (Hertfordshire, near junction 9 of the M1): They host a 12-acre pumpkin patch with a variety of pumpkins and squash, plus family fun games and hay bale stacks.
Willows Activity Farm (London Colney, Herts)
For a full “farm + pumpkin festival” day out.
They run a Pumpkin Festival across several weekends: e.g. 11-12, 18-19, and 24-31 October.
Every child gets a free pumpkin to take home. Plus, the usual farm fun (animals, play areas) is included.
Rumbler’s Farm Shop (Potten End, Hemel Hempstead, Herts) A more modest / local patch.
Rumbler’s offers hundreds of pumpkins in field displays (or polytunnel if weather demands) so you can pick your favourite. Because it’s smaller and more local, it’s often less crowded — a good option for quieter visits.
Standalone Farm: 17–20 October and 25–31 October.
(Letchworth area, Herts)
A smaller, cosy farm that also participates in seasonal events.
They run a “pumpkin wonderland” with a selection of pumpkins, photo ops, and seasonal vibes.
Their charm is in being a working farm with personality, so you may also enjoy other farm activities while visiting.

Cammas Hall Farm (Bishops Stortford area)
This is “pumpkin mode” once the soft fruit season winds down.
They offer pick-your-own pumpkins in the field, plus a ready-picked patch.
They also run extra features like a terror tunnel, maize maze, spooky characters, and refreshments.
They grow many varieties — including more unusual ones (white, knobbly) beyond the classic orange.

Spook-fest at Aldenham country park
Your Spook-Fest Ticket includes your Farm Pass to see all the animals as well as enjoying the spooky themed farm featuring the Aldenham Mausoleum and Spooky Shack and activities including- Giant Puzzles, Pumpkin Bingo, Spider Maze, Spooky-Oke, Mini Tractor Play, Bouncy Castle, Dance Tunnel and the Bale Play. Interact with our Scarecrow characters and watch out for their Pop Up Shows (available weekends & 25th - 31st October).
Witches and Wizards week at Hatfield House
This October half-term, Hatfield Park invites you to dust off your broomsticks and join for a spook-tacular adventure at Witches & Wizards Week! 🧙♀️✨ From enchanted forests to wicked workshops, this is one family-friendly event witch you will not want to miss.
