I’m Sarah, Mum to two little ones (aged 4 and 2) and owner of Halia Rose, a jewellery, accessories & gift collection for fabulous mums and their young families.
Before becoming a mum, I worked in the corporate world for a large healthcare company during which I moved to Singapore and latterly I was Regional Manager for a wine company across South-East Asia.
When you become a Mum, your world changes forever. I really struggled after the birth of my first child...after a 54 hour labour my physical and emotional state was shot through let alone all those crazy hormones running wild! Maternity leave was only 2 months in Singapore at the time coupled with having a difficult birth and no family living in the same country, meant I wasn’t ready to go back to work 6 weeks later so I decided to take some time out to spend time with my new baby.
I love the saying “You can’t pour from an empty cup” and truly believe that it’s important to look after yourself, treat yourself and make time for yourself in order to be the best version of you and be able to take care of your family in the ways you want to. After giving birth I obviously couldn’t fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes, but jewellery was something I could wear and made me feel a little more like “me”...yet every time I did, it would be tugged, broken, chewed through by little hands – the idea for Halia Rose was born and so I went about creating a gorgeous collection of jewellery, accessories and gifts designed with mama style in mind but that’s also safe, practical and that, from experience, I know you need in your life as a mama!
At the heart of Halia Rose, we’re about helping Mums look, and more importantly, feel great so the collection includes beautiful and stylish products and gifts that are also practical to use through Mama life! And because the happiness of your baby and family are so important, I also have collections just for them to help make life a little easier as a Mama.
Our necklaces are also amazing as teething accessories too and let’s face it, teething normally hits when you are out and about and have nothing to hand but if you’re wearing one of our non-toxic, baby-proof and chewable necklaces you’ll always have something to hand to soothe baby and I’m thrilled that Halia Rose has been recognised in several Awards including by Made for Mums and Mumii’s Best Baby & Toddler Gear Awards.
I’m also a big believer in looking after our planet, which is why I chose to use sustainable and 100% non-toxic materials. Our gorgeous gift boxes are also made of recycled materials to do our little bit to look after the environment for our generations to come.
The name Halia Rose comes from a mix of my inspiration and roots...both my children were born in Singapore and I wanted something to reflect this as they were (and continue to be!) my inspiration plus also my English roots. Halia is the Malay translation for Ginger and Rose is the flower of England...my daughter also has ginger hair and her middle name is Rose!
