Glamping pods set in a rural location in the beautiful Hertfordshire Countryside

Bancroft Recreation Ground has been providing a place of relaxation and leisure for Hitchin's residents since before the Second World War. The park houses many specimen trees, shrubs and flower beds, and also supports a bowling club, tennis club and during the summer months, a popular Splash Pad.

Butts Close is the oldest open space in Hitchin with a long history of use stretching back to late medieval times, when it was a sporting ground for archery.

It is owned partly by the Council and partly by the Hitchin Cow Commoners Trust. It is managed by NHDC in partnership with the Countryside and Rights of Way Service at Hertfordshire County Council.

Great woods for family walks, just outside Hitchin. Perfect for bluebells in the spring. There are a number of dens for kids to play in, and pathways to follow. You might even spot some deer!

At Hitchin Lavender visitors are encouraged to walk through the miles of rows that make up the two fields of lavender. Children love the freedom to run up and down the rows and can enjoy picking some to take home (charges apply). The fields are also a great spot for photographers. Inside the 17th Century barn there is a shop with products and plants, and a cafe serving refreshments, snacks and light lunches, as well as a small museum. Open June-September - check website for exact dates. In the Summer there are additional events, including late night opening for photographer visits, along with farmhouse platters and a licensed bar to enjoy the evening with a beautiful view; as well as Outdoor cinema and other pop-up events. Hitchin Market is one of the largest outdoor markets in the region set by the river at the heart of our beautiful town. Featuring over a 150 covered stalls we are open every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There are specialist market days throughout the year, including a weekly Antiques Markets every Friday and Craft & Farmers once a month.

Hitchin's town centre 'buccaneer' themed splash park is 160 metres squared and includes features such as interactive water jets, tipping water buckets, a pirate ship and a play stream for younger children.

There's a play area within the park, along with bandstand, lots of grassy space to picnic and sports courts, as well as a new Kiosk selling drinks and snacks.
