Home Educated Falconry Sessions - Over the next four sessions children will have the opportunity to meet, handle and fly many different species of birds of prey as well as looking at adaptations, hunting techniques, habitat & conservation. These sessions are designed to be fun and informative, giving the children the opportunity to get close to these incredible birds.
April 27th 1.00 - 3.00
British Birds of Prey - Children will have the opportunity to meet, handle and fly some of our beautiful British birds of prey, these will include the Barn Owl, Tawny Owl, Kestrel and Little Owl. Children will also be introduced to the incredible Golden Eagle. As well as handling and flying some of the birds children will learn about the conservation of these species and their adaptations.
May 4th 1.00 - 3.00
Owls - Children will have the opportunity to meet, handle and fly many different species of owls, these will include the Barn Owl, Great Grey Owl, European Eagle Owl, Scops Owl and more. Children will learn all about the owls: how far can they turn their heads, silent flight and hunting techniques.
May 11th 1.00 - 3.00
Falconry - Children will have a go at learning the falconers knot, test their skills as we teach them how to tie the falconers knot one handed. Meet, handle and fly some of our birds including a hawk, learn about the different perches used, how we weigh the birds, feeding; looking at the different types of food and stages of training.
May 25th 1.00 - 3.00
Adaptations - Children will have the opportunity to meet and handle some of our eagles, have a go at flying a hawk and handle a falcon. We will be looking at the adaptations of the birds; why hawks have long tails, how fast can the falcons fly, what hunting techniques do eagles use.
These sessions need to be pre-booked.
£7.00 per child, one free adult with each paying child. Additional adults are £5.00 per person (additional adults pay on arrival).
