Drive-In Jubilee Beacon Lighting
Shuttleworth
Thu 2nd June 2022
8-10pm
The Jubilee Beacons is one of the official events of the Platinum Jubilee in 2022, as part of an extended bank holiday, from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June. The Jubilee Beacons will provide an opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, UK Overseas Territories and the Commonwealth, to come together to celebrate this historic milestone. The four days of celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen's 70 years of service.
This will be the first time a British monarch has marked a Platinum Jubilee, 70 years as Sovereign. In September 2015, The Queen overtook Queen Victoria as the longest reigning monarch.
We are delighted to host a beacon lighting on our world famous 1930s grass airfield Old Warden. Join us from 20.00 - 22.00 to celebrate the Jubilee Beacons Lighting and begin the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
This will be a drive-in style event with all cars parked on the grass paddocks facing the runway. We will have music playing over the tannoy system, the bar will be serving hot and cold drinks plus a beer or two and children can visit the Jubilee playground until 21.15.
We will also have our very own Supermarine Spitfire out on a lovely colourful illuminated static display. Please note this will be weather and engineer dependent with no guarantee.
All other areas of the site (Collection, House, Garden, Cafe and Shop) will be closed.
Tickets:
Free to all but please reserve your parking spot and let us know how many guests you will have in your vehicle. See the green box on the right-hand side for booking.
