A crowdfunding page has been set up by a group of Hitchin mums to show their support for the much-loved Pear Tree Café, its owner and staff.
The creators of the page said:
When the Mums of Hitchin learned the news that Pear Tree Play Café would be closing at the end of August, we as a collective community were saddened at the loss of such a vital part of our network. What Frances and her team built at Pear Tree was a welcoming space to come, meet, chat and share in the hardship and joy of parenthood over a much needed coffee and slice of cake. The space was, and still is loved dearly and deeply. As a collective, we would like to offer our deepest thanks and gratitude for what was, for so many, an absolute lifeline during the dark days of parenting in the pandemic. We are furious for you, and though this will not help to stem the losses in any sustainable way, we would like to show you our thanks, and hope that you can at least have one last hurrah on us.

You did all you wished and hoped for Frances, and we thank you for that.
