Pregnancy Day Retreat @ Sopers House on Saturday 14th May from 9:30-17:00.
During this day retreat, co-hosted by Lisa Wells (pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher, reflexologist in women's health and reiki practitioner) and Jade Powell (pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher, birth and postnatal doula), you will spend time connecting with yourself, with your baby and other mamas-to-be in a relaxed, calm and supportive environment. This is a safe and trusting space to ask questions and get advice about pregnancy, birth and beyond.
We will spend time working through yoga asana that is nourishing to the pregnant body, ironing out any aches or pains, and stretching and moving in a way that feels good for your body. We will also focus on pranayama and specifically the various different breathing techniques that you might call upon during your labour, birth and beyond so that you feel fully prepared and explore the various different birthing positions that you might like to try.
As part of the preparation for labour and birth part of this workshop, we will look at the physiology of birth and what is happening during surges/contractions so that you are confident and prepared, and can make informed choices during labour. We will also learn hypnobirthing techniques to help you navigate your labour in a calm and relaxed way, releasing any fears and reducing tension.
We'll also spend time talking about the autonomic nervous system and it's role in birthing, and the many benefits of staying in a relaxed and calm state whatever turn your birthing takes.
A pregnancy retreat wouldn't be complete without focusing on the fourth trimester, and working on how you can prepare to have the best possible postpartum experience. There will also be an online breastfeeding workshop run by an IBCLC after the event as a special bonus!!
This retreat will conclude with a beautiful sound healing relaxation using crystal singing bowls, to bring calm and balance to the body and mind The combination of informative workshops, plus yoga and sound healing, will leave you feeling empowered and confident about your birth, as well as blissfully relaxed and pampered.
Participants will also receive a goody bag of pregnancy treats. A sandwich lunch, tea and coffee, and light snacks will be available, as well as cake!
