Marbled Collage - Join us for a new workshop with Anna from Marbling Magpie.

After spending two hours in the morning learning marbling techniques, the afternoon session will have you using some of your created papers to make your own collage. Not all the papers will be dry enough to take
use straight away, so Anna will also bring a stack of her own papers to use in this fantasy landscape or seascape collage workshop.
She will also bring die cutting tools and other accessories for the collage to create something truly special. Each workshop can be booked individually or together. There will be plenty of materials provided if you just want to do the collage part of this day and you can also just do the marbling session on its own in the morning.

What is marbling?
In essence marbling is the art of applying paint to water then transferring it to a surface. It is believed it began in the far east, Japan or China, 1000 years ago, with its hypnotism and beauty gradually captivating and inspiring cultures westward through the ages. Every nation who learned its beauty breathed their own interpretation into it.

As with learning anything, you start at the beginning. Marbling at a beginners level is very free and pleasing, the more you do it the more possibilities you see and the more skills you learn. I often hold workshops and lessons in marbling and am always thrilled to see the happy look on the students face when a beautiful pattern is revealed.

Being a self taught marbler there are many things you can't learn from books so its been 15 years of trials and errors.... and more errors. But the bonus of being self taught is that you stumble upon new techniques and I love to experiment and push the boundaries.

This workshop is designed for children and teens aged 8+ and all materials will be provided. Just bring your creativity and enthusiasm, and we'll take care of the rest!

This is a drop off workshop with our DBS certified tutor with a maximum of 12 students.

The workshop will run from 1pm - 3pm on Thursday 9th April and is costed at £20. Morning and Afternoon Workshops can be booked separately, but if you book this workshop in a combined ticket together with Anna's Creative Marbling Techniques Workshop then you will get a £5 discount and the kids can do art all day! In the bag you will receive a sandwich (choice of ham, cheese, jam, marmite, cream cheese or peanut butter), a piece of fruit, a yogurt, a packet of crisps and a drink carton. Just book a ticket for lunch at the same time of the workshop, choose your sandwich and Carol will have everything ready at the end of the morning session.

Tickets for the Marbled Collage Workshop are only are £20 per child and for both sessions making an all-day fun art camp from 10am - 3.00pm for £35. You can send a packed lunch with your child if you do not want to book a lunch bag and either way, and they will be looked after at lunchtime by our DBS checked staff.

The workshop will take place in our Downstairs Function Space with access via Kibes Lane Car Park.
