Home-Start Herts supports families with children under 5, who maybe struggling with post-natal depression, isolation, physical health problems, bereavement and many other issues. Volunteer family mentors visit for 2-3 hours each week in a family\'s home. Through practical and emotional support, they make sure parents have the skills, confidence and strength they need to nurture their children. Home-Start Herts also offer referral only family groups run by trained staff and volunteers. These run weekly in various locations across Hertfordshire. There are many benefits of coming to a group; Parents and their children can meet other families; Children get the chance to play, learn and have fun with other children; Parents get the chance to meet and talk to other parents – and many parents discover they are going through the same kinds of experiences and feel less alone. Groups are a great place to pick up advice, tips and help from Home-Start staff and volunteers and other parents.
