Redbourn Festival is a community-led weekend that brings the village together through a vibrant weekend of free events, entertainment, activities and shared experiences. It is both a celebration of community and a celebration of cycling, centred around the wonderful facility that is the Redbourn Common.
The Festival is organised by a dedicated team of local volunteers, with Active in Redbourn working alongside Verulam Cycling Club and Redbourn Parish Council, supported by a wide network of community groups, businesses and residents. This collaborative approach ensures the Festival reflects the energy, interests and spirit of the whole village.
Redbourn Festival grew out of three separate events that captured the village's community spirit; the Fête du Vélo, established 11 years ago by Simon Barnes and supported by Verulam Cycling Club; the Redbourn end-of-lockdown party, organised by Active in Redbourn; and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration organised by Redbourn Parish Council. Bringing these together into one coordinated weekend has created a flagship event for the village.
The weekend programme is built around a number of much-loved events, namely the Funday, Redbourn Rocks and the Fête du Vélo (incorporating the Redbourn Crits) - offering something for all ages, from music and entertainment, food and drink, to elite and community cycling and family-friendly activities.
Today, the Festival weekend is a highlight of the local calendar - celebrating Redbourn's unique character, encouraging participation, improving both physical and mental well-being and creating lasting memories for residents and visitors alike.
