Things To Do This February Half Term

It's almost February Half Term and as ever, it’s a juggling act – you’ll need something to entertain the kids but don’t want to spend a fortune or travel too far doing it. Therefore we’ve put together a list of some of the best things going on locally. With most things running all week, you should find something to do here but if not, you can find a list of everything happening day by day here, on our What's On page.

Decorate a Bird House

18th – 20th February, Frogmore Paper Mill

Drop in anytime between the 18th and 20th February to decorate your very own birdhouse. Pick one up at reception, decorate it, and then take it home for all your local feathered friends to enjoy! £9 per birdhouse. More Info here.

Going Underground Trail & Craft

17th – 21st February, Ashridge

£3

The woods may be quiet in February but there's a hive of activity beneath your feet. This half term, go along to Ashridge to find out more about the creepy crawlies and other creatures that live underground. Afterwards, go to the visitor centre for a craft that you can take home to remember your visit. More info here.

The Creation Station Slime Workshops

19th and 21st February (17th now sold out), The Royal Oak, Abbots Langley

The Creation Station slime workshop is always popular! Kids can decorate their pots, make their slime and have lots of fun blowing slime bubbles or seeing who can stretch theirs the longest! Due to the venue, you can also stay for lunch and kids eat free when accompanied by an adult purchasing a main course lunch. Suitable for ages 4 and up. More info here.

Cabinets of Curiosities

17th – 21st February, National History Museum, Tring

£2 per child.

Discover the history of the Museum and what unusual and unique things Walter Rothschild collected, including skulls to animals in alcohol. Then craft your very own cabinet of curiosities to take home. Drop in half hour sessions throughout the day, suitable for ages 5+. More info here.

Mad Science at the Museum

15th February, St Albans Museum + Gallery

At the St Albans Museum + Gallery in the middle of town, there will be a FREE drop-in event called "Mad Science at the Museum" on Saturday 15th February. Enjoy an afternoon of surprises and pop up experiments with a scientist from the Mad Science team between 2pm-4pm. More info here

Planetarium & Stargazing

February 19th – 22nd, Dunstable Downs

The mobile planetarium returns for another year to Dunstable Downs. Relax, sit back and enjoy yourself under the projected stars, perfect for little space enthusiasts. For the adults and older children, you can also enjoy an evening of gazing at the real stars on Dunstable Downs and then be whisked off on a wonderful adventure around the universe in the mobile Planetarium. Full House Feb Fest

Monday 17th – Friday 21st February, various venues, Luton

During half term Luton culture trust and Full House Theatre present Feb Fest – an arts event for children and young people jam packed with stuff to do and things to see across various venues in Luton including Stockwood Discovery Centre, The Hat Factory Art Centre, Wardown park museum and Luton Library Theatre. As well as a range of bookable events featuring theatre, storytelling, music and magic, there’s a free drop-in at the Hat Factory Arts Centre with arts and crafts, storytelling, face painting and music. Willows Farm, February Frolics

15th – 23rd February

There's plenty of fleecy fun to be had at Willow's cutest event of the year, February Frolics with plenty of activities that the whole family can enjoy. There will be live lambing, newborn lamb bottle feeding demonstrations and a full day's programme of fleecy fun for a baa-rilliant day out. More info here.
