The formal park covers an area of approximately 3.6 hectares (9 acres), and includes a wide range of features that still exist from the original park. These include rose and flower beds, extensive tree and shrub planting, the Aberdeen granite drinking fountain and the park-keeper's lodge. The park also has a lovely children's playground that was refurbished in 2021 and during the summer months free, turn up and play tennis courts.

The Cottonmill Community and Cycling Centre provides a hub for everyone in the local community to gather and enjoy the local facilities.
