Summer Reading Challenge 2017

Published:

The Summer Reading Challenges launches Saturday 15th July at libraries across Hertfordshire, including Harpenden library.

This year's theme is "Animal Agents" and children are challenged to read six library books over the summer and return to the library to tell the staff about them. Children can read anything they wish, including story books, fact books, talking books, and even e-books (available to download for free from our e-library).

This year’s challenge will introduce young readers to an amazing team of crime-busting creatures designed by Tony Ross, the illustrator of Horrid Henry and many of David Walliams’ best-loved books. With the Animal Agents’ help, children will investigate a curious mystery and catch a crafty crook!

As children report back on what they have read, they’ll collect smelly stickers featuring all the clues they need to crack the case. Every child who finishes their six books by Saturday 9th September will receive a medal and a certificate, along with the chance to win a ticket to an exclusive author event during October half-term.

The Summer Reading Challenge kicks off on 15th July with a fun-filled Launch Event at Hemel Hempstead Library. Throughout the summer children can also visit www.animal-agents.org.uk for more games and surprises.

Best of all, it’s free to take part; all children need to do is visit their local library from 15th July to collect a starter pack, while stocks last.
