Pick of the Month - December 2019

Published:

For most people December means only one thing, and that's Christmas!

If you are planning to take the children to see Santa over the next few weeks we have an article that tells you exactly where you can go and when.

If you fancy a family trip to the theatre to take in the traditional Pantomime or a Christmassy show then we have an article for that too!

And if you are planning to celebrate Christmas at one of our local churches, then guess what?  We have an article listing all the local carol services, nativity plays, crib services and christingles that are taking place in the run up to the big day.

So what else could possibly be going on in December? Well, if you want to get out and about, Dunstable Downs will be running their regular "50 Things" event on Sunday 1st December. And every weekend throughout December starting on 1st December Ashridge have a Nutcracker Trail through the woods.

Sunday 1st December is also when Batford Switch on their Christmas Lights and Redbourn holds it's Christmas Market.

Or you can feel like you are outdoors, indoors at the Van Hage Garden Centre Ice Rink running until 6th January.  Check the website for details of dedicated Parent & Toddler sessions and Special Needs sessions.

For a musical Christmas treat Harpenden Concert Band bring you "Christmas at the Movies" on 15th December.  This is a free concert with a retiring collection in aid of Healthy Young Minds in Herts.  Or, if you missed it last year, or just fancy experiencing it again, Hitchin Brass Band return to Harpenden Public Halls on Sunday 8th December to perform the music from The Snowman along with the film.

Check out our What's On page for details of all your school and church Christmas Fairs where you are sure to enjoy your fill of mulled wine and mince pies, and maybe even pick up a Christmas bargain or two.

Whatever you do and however you celebrate, we wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas, and hope that Santa is good to you all!
