Well that went rather quickly. Easter holidays is always a blur but with the Easter weekend being right at the end of the holidays it has taken all week to recover! (Not that we over-indulged at all, obviously…)

We stayed local for most of the holidays and had some super experiences in and around the area:

Wardown House, Museum and Gallery and Luton Culture put on a fantastic "horrible histories" style tour which the 8 & 12 year old loved. I was a little apprehensive but as the parents were ‘banished’ to the dining room the children were entertained with gruesome stories and even saw a ghost…We could hear their laughter, groans and squeals as they toured the house so there was no denying their enjoyment.

Harpenden Library put on their comic art workshop. The children each came home with a caricature drawn by the comic artist and a whole comic that they had collaborated on. An inspiring way to spend the morning.

Harpenden Rugby Club hosted an invigorating rugby camp over the holidays run by Blackrock Sports Group. My eldest two are very keen rugby players and love this camp but with a broken nose from a recent tournament my eldest had to sit this one out. No 2 however, ran off a lot of energy each day, enhanced his kicking skills and enjoyed playing matches with children older and younger of all levels.

We were lucky enough to be invited along to Rothamsted Conference Centre at the end of the week to watch Ralph Breaks the Internet. It was the first time they had put on a cinema experience but it was the perfect venue to watch a movie. The seats were incredibly comfortable and being a conference centre it was brilliantly staggered so even our littlest, being just 4, had a great view. Refreshments were available throughout and included very generous portions of yummy chips! The children thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and it was wonderful being able to jump in the car (in the free car park with ample spaces) afterwards and only have a few minutes journey home. We’re definitely looking forward to more movies here in the future (keep an aya on our What's On page) and apparently there will be more competitions and maybe even a family ticket on offer – watch this space!

And then of course there are all the beautiful walks we went on. We borrowed a friend’s dog for the week, our beloved Oscar the Labrador, and took him on adventures through Heartwood Forest, Stagenhoe/Whitwell, Nomansland, Water End… there are so many walks in the area and the bluebells are just stunning at the moment.

Well, after all that, too much chocolate and too many roast potatoes, I was relieved to take down the Easter decorations today and I’m looking forward to planning half term!
