We had such a lovely time visiting the Henry Moore Foundation gardens with our children — it’s a real hidden gem for families looking to enjoy art, nature, and outdoor fun all in one place.
The gardens are incredibly child-friendly, with wide open spaces that are perfect for little ones to run, explore and be curious. Ours absolutely loved darting around the sculptures, which feel almost magical as they peek out from behind trees or sit nestled in wildflower meadows. There’s no "don’t touch" feeling here — it’s welcoming and relaxed, and the kids could enjoy art in a hands-on, natural way.

A highlight was the Easter Trail, which was brilliantly organised. The challenge of finding pieces of flint cleverly hidden around the grounds had them completely absorbed — it felt like a real adventure! They loved ticking off the finds, and it was a great way to explore all corners of the garden without it ever feeling like a long walk.

It’s also a brilliant place just to get the children outdoors — they ran free, climbed, crouched to look at bugs, and generally burned off loads of energy in the fresh air. The environment feels very safe, spacious, and well looked after.

We also really appreciated the lovely café, which had plenty of family-friendly options and outdoor seating, so the kids could keep moving while we enjoyed a peaceful coffee. And there were some drop-in activities and creative stations too, which meant the fun continued even when legs got tired.

All in all, we had a fantastic day. If you’re looking for a spot that combines art, nature, and child-friendly adventure, Henry Moore Gardens is a winner. We’ll definitely be back this summer for another adventure!
