Our Family Stay at Moonfleet Manor – A Truly Special Break

This year we decided to stay in the UK for our summer holiday and head down to Cornwall for a week.  To break the journey up, we stayed at one of our favourite hotel chains, the Luxury Family Hotels, and there is a good reason they have the name!

We stayed at the magical Moonfleet Manor in Weymouth, and I couldn’t recommend it more if you’re looking for a family-friendly getaway that really does cater for everyone.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like everything had been thought of. Our room was fully set up for the kids, with everything we needed—and some lovely little extras too. The children were so excited to find buckets, spades and crabbing lines laid out on the beds for them to keep. They couldn’t believe it when they saw their very own dressing gowns as well! The room was spacious and perfectly set out for our family of five.

The gardens were beautiful, and there was so much for the children to do just outside. We could sit on the patio with a drink while the kids ran around safely—there were football nets, swingball, a play area and loads of space to explore. It made it easy to just unwind.

Meal times were great—the food was really tasty, and the kids were completely catered for. Mine loved having mocktails with their dinner, and it felt like a treat for everyone. Because it’s such a child-friendly place, we never felt like we had to keep them super quiet or still, which takes the pressure off! The staff were brilliant—so friendly, helpful, and great with the kids.

A real bonus was the 2 hours of free childcare every day in the Four Bears Den. The staff there were amazing, and the kids always came out buzzing with everything they’d been doing. It gave us a bit of a breather too, which was very welcome!

There’s just so much for kids to do, whatever their age. The games room was a big hit, with soft play for the little ones, air hockey, a climbing wall, football, arcade games and even a gaming room. There was also ten-pin bowling, a squash court, a science room and an escape room—it’s honestly packed with things to keep them entertained.

They’ve really thought of everything—you can borrow pushchairs, wellies, baby monitors, crabbing nets, tennis rackets, even a Yoto player. The swimming pool area was perfect too, with three different pools of varying depths. It was lovely and warm, and the kids didn’t want to get out!

One of the highlights for us was the evening cinema sessions for the children. They got warm milk and cookies, popcorn for the older ones, and settled into big beanbags to watch a film—it was such a lovely way to end the day.

This wasn’t our first visit to Moonfleet, and it definitely won’t be our last. It’s such a relaxed atmosphere, with incredible views and so much to do. We always leave feeling like we’ve had a proper break, and the kids talk about it for ages afterwards.  Honestly, they have thought of EVERYTHING for families and nothing is too much trouble.  The staff go out of their way to make your stay incredible (and I know that sounds like it’s taken straight from their brochure, but it’s true!).

If you’re looking for somewhere that makes family travel easy, fun and full of memories, Moonfleet Manor is absolutely worth a visit.
