Pop Art Portrait Canvas Workshop - Join Local artist Keeda and art club teacher, in this colourful self-portrait workshop!

We will be looking at how to draw faces in proportion, using the horizontal division method in preparation for painting our final self-portrait on canvas.

Looking at famous pop artist Roy Lichtenstein for inspiration. Famous for his bold and colourful, comic books style portraits.

We will be using an array of bright acrylic paints to create a fun and colourful self-portrait. Along with learning a little bit about colour mixing. Make sure to wear your messy clothes!

Keeda says "I have loved Pop art since a child and was very lucky to see the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition, at the Louisiana museum of art in Denmark. Ever since then he has been my favourite pop artist.
I think that learning this simple division method for facial proportions, is a fundamental beginning into portraiture and a key starting point in creating our super fun and colourful pop art self-portraits!

Keeda is a new tutor to Southern Maltings, running some delightful fully booked workshops at May Half Term. She has plenty of experience of teaching children art with local group Art Explorers. She is also a local artist and sells her prints on Etsy under her brand of Kiki Wren Designs.

She says "I grew up in an exceptionally creative family. Full of architects, artists, landscape designers and art teachers, so naturally I have loved art and creating from a young age.

I was always encouraged artistically as a child, which is where my passion for teaching art to children, in a fun and informative way, stems from. I have a foundation degree in Fine Art and have several years of experience working with children. Formerly an Art and design technician and teaching assistant, I now teach after school art clubs in a couple of the local schools. I have always had lists of my own ideas I've wanted to teach, so finally I decided to branch out and start teaching my own holiday art workshops, in the hope that my ideas will inspire the same passion I feel, with the children".

This workshop is designed for children and teens aged 8+ and all materials will be provided. Just bring your creativity and enthusiasm, and we'll take care of the rest!

This is a drop off workshop with our DBS certified tutor with a maximum of 12 students.

The workshop will run from 1.30pmam - 3.30pm on Wednesday 13th August and is costed at £20. Morning and Afternoon Workshops can be booked separately, but if you book this workshop in a combined ticket together with Keeda's Be a Fashion Designer Workshop then you will get a £6.50 discount and the kids can do art all day!

Tickets for the Pop Art Portrait Workshop only are £20 per child and for both sessions making an all-day fun art camp from 10am - 3:30pm for £36. You should send a packed lunch with your child and they will be looked after at lunchtime by our DBS checked staff.

The workshop will take place in our Downstairs Function Space with access via Kibes Lane Car Park.

We are currently undergoing an exciting redevelopment of our Café area at the East End of the building.
